1. A liquid crystal display comprising:

  • a first substrate having an inner surface and an outer surface;

    a first electrode formed on the inner surface of said first substrate;

    a second substrate facing the first substrate and having an inner surface and an outer surface;

    a second electrode formed corresponding to the first electrode on the inner surface of the second substrate;

    a pixel region including a first edge extending in a transverse direction and a second edge extending in a longitudinal direction;

    a plurality of domains divided by tilt directions of liquid crystal molecules, wherein a number of axial directions of the liquid crystal molecules in a group of adjacent domains is four;

    a liquid crystal layer between the first and the second substrates;

    a first polarizer attached on the outer surface of said first substrate; and

    a second polarizer attached on the outer surface of said second substrate,wherein the axial direction of the liquid crystal molecules in each domain is tilted at an angle 45°

    ±

    10°

    with respect to polarizing directions of the first polarizer and the second polarizer,wherein the polarizing direction of the first polarizer is substantially parallel to the first edge of the pixel region, and the polarizing direction of the second polarizer is substantially parallel to the second edge of the pixel region, andwherein long axes of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer are aligned perpendicular to the substrates in a state that no voltage is applied to the electrodes.
