1. A sensor system for measuring an analyte concentration in a host, the system comprising:

  • at least one electrode configured for implantation in a host and configured to measure an analyte concentration in a tissue of the host;

    sensor electronics operably connected to the at least one electrode and configured to provide analyte data representative of an analyte concentration in the host, wherein the sensor electronics are configured to provide an identification of sensor insertion into the tissue of the host or an identification of sensor removal from the tissue of the host; and

    an information tag comprising a code, wherein the code comprises sensor implantation information configured to control or limit an amount of time after sensor insertion into the tissue of the host over which information can be obtained from the at least one electrode, and wherein the code further comprises a number that represents how many sensor insertions into the tissue of the host are allowed using a unique license code.
