Abstract

A cable management panel having a grounding arrangement. The grounding arrangement including a rolling ground strap interconnected to each of a drawer and a chassis of the cable management panel. The rolling ground strap being arranged to include a loop that rolls along the length of the ground strap.

Claims

1. A method of electrically grounding a cable management panel, the method comprising the steps of:

a) providing a drawer slidably positionable relative to a chassis; and

b) interconnecting a rolling ground strap to each of the drawer and the chassis such that a loop is created, the rolling ground strap being positionable in a forward position and a rearward position relative to the position of the drawer;

c) wherein a height of the loop of the rolling ground strap remains generally constant during sliding movement of the drawer;

(d) wherein the rolling ground strap dissipates electrical occurrences within the cable management panel.

2. The method of claim 1, further including rolling the rolling ground strap between the forward position and the rearward position generally without lateral movement.

3. The method of claim 1, further including rolling the rolling ground strap forward and rearward within a discrete region, the discrete region having a width approximately equal to a width of the ground strap.

The method of claim 1, wherein the step of interconnecting the rolling ground strap includes interconnecting a first end of the rolling ground strap to the chassis, and interconnecting a second end of the rolling ground strap to the drawer, such that the loop is created between the first end and the second end.

5. The method of claim 4, further including sliding the drawer relative to the chassis, the size of the loop increasing and decreasing in response to the sliding movement of the drawer.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the loop lengthens and shortens in response to the sliding movement of the drawer.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the height of the loop is defined by a bend radius of the rolling ground strap, the bend radius being between about 0.5 and 1.0 inches.

The method of claim 4, further including sliding the drawer between an open position and a closed position, wherein the loop is located adjacent to the first end of the ground strap when the drawer is in the open position, and wherein the loop is located adjacent to the second end of the ground strap when the drawer is in the closed position.

9. The method of claim 4, further including sliding the drawer relative to the chassis, wherein a curved loop end of the loop rolls along a length of the rolling ground strap as the drawer slides relative to the chassis.

10. The method of claim 4, wherein the step of interconnecting the rolling ground strap includes securing one side of the rolling ground strap flush to the drawer and securing the same one side of the rolling ground strap flush to the chassis.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the rolling ground strap has a flat rectangular cross-section.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the flat rectangular cross-section of the rolling ground strap defines a width, the width being between about 0.100 and 0.250 inches.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the flat rectangular cross-section of the rolling ground strap defines a thickness, the thickness being between about 0.003 and 0.006 inches.

14. The method of claim 1, further including interconnecting the drawer to the chassis by way of a slide assembly, the slide assembly including slide rails.

15. A method of electrically grounding a cable management panel, the method comprising the steps of:

a) providing a drawer slidably positionable relative to a chassis, and providing a rolling ground strap having a first end interconnected to the chassis and a second end interconnected to the drawer, and wherein a loop is provided between the first end and the second end;

b) sliding the drawer relative to the chassis, the rolling ground strap rolling between a forward position and a rearward position in relation to the sliding movement of the drawer, wherein a height of the loop of the rolling ground strap remains generally constant during sliding movement of the drawer; and

c) dissipating electrical occurrences within the cable management panel by way of the rolling ground strap.

16. The method of claim 15, further including rolling the rolling ground strap between the forward position and the rearward position generally without lateral movement.

17. The method of claim 15, further including rolling the rolling ground strap forward and rearward within a discrete region, the discrete region having a width approximately equal to a width of the ground strap.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein the size of the loop increases and decreases in response to the sliding movement of the drawer.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the loop lengthens and shortens in response to the sliding movement of the drawer.

20. The method of claim 15, wherein the height of the loop is defined by a bend radius of the rolling ground strap, the bend radius being between about 0.5 and 1.0 inches.

21. The method of claim 15, further including sliding the drawer between an open position and a closed position, wherein the loop is located adjacent to the first end of the ground strap when the drawer is in the open position, and wherein the loop is located adjacent to the second end of the ground strap when the drawer is in the closed position.

22. The method of claim 15, wherein a curved loop end of the loop rolls along a length of the rolling ground strap as the drawer slides relative to the chassis.

23. A method of electrically grounding a cable management panel, the method comprising the steps of:

a) providing a chassis, a horizontal sliding drawer, and a rolling ground strap interconnected to each of the chassis and the drawer such that a loop is created;

b) sliding the drawer relative to the chassis, wherein during such sliding movement the rolling ground strap rolls between a forward position and a rearward position generally without lateral movement, and wherein a height of the loop of the rolling ground strap remains generally constant during sliding movement of the drawer; and

c) dissipating electrical occurrences within the cable management panel by way of the rolling ground strap.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein during sliding movement of the drawer, the rolling ground strap rolls within a discrete region, the discrete region having a width approximately equal to a width of the ground strap.

25. The method of claim 23, wherein the rolling ground strap has a first end interconnected to the chassis and a second end interconnected to the drawer, and wherein the loop is provided between the first end and the second end.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein the size of the loop increases and decreases in response to the sliding movement of the drawer.

27. The method of claim 23, wherein the loop lengthens and shortens in response to the sliding movement of the drawer.

28. The method of claim 23, wherein the height of the loop is defined by a bend radius of the rolling ground strap, the bend radius being between about 0.5 and 1.0 inches.

29. The method of claim 26, further including sliding the drawer between an open position and a closed position, wherein the loop is located adjacent to the first end of the ground strap when the drawer is in the open position, and wherein the loop is located adjacent to the second end of the ground strap when the drawer is in the closed position.

30. The method of claim 26, wherein a curved loop end of the loop rolls along a length of the rolling ground strap as the drawer slides relative to the chassis.
