1. A computer-implemented method of increasing dissemination of popular messages in a chat system, the method comprising:
- at the chat system having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors to perform the method;
sending at least a portion of target messages from a plurality of real-time incoming messages to respective users of a plurality of users based on at least user-specified selection criteria of the respective users;
receiving from the respective users feedback data regarding respective authors of the received target messages;
evaluating the feedback data for identifying popular messages associated with the respective authors; and
in accordance with the identifying of popular messages, sending at least a portion of the popular messages to respective ones of a second set of the plurality of users.
