1. A monitoring device for monitoring at least one conduit with at least one conductor for diagnostic purposes, the monitoring device located at a position along said at least one conduit, the monitoring device comprising:

  • at least one programmed microcontroller or other processor acquiring non-electrical sensor information from a set of non-pressurized sensors and sensitized medium, configured without a circuit to deliver the non-electrical sensor information, processing the non-electrical sensor information based on parameters and environmental condition of the at least one conduit, and processing the non-electrical sensor information to provide an output signal indicative of a condition and an estimate of remaining useful life of the at least one conduit with at least one conductor, and means associated with the at least one programmed microcontroller or other processor operating the monitoring device in a monitoring mode, after the at least one programmed microcontroller or other processor has operated in a birth certificate mode, wherein the at least one programmed microcontroller or other processor acquires, conditions, and processes the non-electrical sensor information from said set of non-pressurized sensors and sensitized medium, compares the processed non-electrical sensor information to previously stored data, and provides an indication of the condition of the at least one conduit based on the comparisons.
