1. An electronic book reader device, comprising:
- an electronic paper display to present text or graphical content;
a keyboard to facilitate user input to the device reader;
a page turner separate from the electronic paper display and the keyboard, the page turner being configured to detect a human gesture to turn a page of the content, the page turner comprising a non-rotatable-tactile member comprising at least one flexible raised and elongated ridge formed of a flexible material and having an immovable base that is fixed to a housing, the tactile member disposed immediately between at least two sensors that detect the human gesture and initiate the turn of the page of the content, the tactile member being free of sensors while providing haptic feedback by deformation of the flexible material when the human gesture moves across the at least two sensors in a horizontal direction; and
the housing to hold the electronic paper display, the keyboard, and the page turner.

Abstract
A page turner is provided for a handheld electronic book reader device. The page turner is configured to detect a human gesture to turn a page in an electronic book that is being displayed by the device. In one implementation, the page turner is configured as a page turning mechanism having at least one tactile member (e.g., ridge, indentation, etc.) and at least one sensor positioned proximate to the tactile member to detect gesture proximity. The tactile member provides tactile feedback as the user passes a finger over the mechanism to simulate a riffle sensation akin to flipping through paper pages in a paperback book. In certain implementations, the eBook reader device has a non-symmetrical shape with a dual display system and QWERTY keyboard.
