Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention comprise systems, methods and devices for imaging device credential submission wherein credentials are extracted by scanning graphical indicia on user documents using a primary document scanner.

Claims

1. A method for imaging device credential extraction and processing, said method comprising:

receiving a credential message comprising credential menu content, at an imaging device (IDev) device management application programming interface (API) from a remote computing device (RCD), wherein said RCD comprises an authentication application for authenticating user credentials wherein said credential menu content comprises a credential input prompt for display at said IDev for the purpose of prompting user credential input via graphical indicia, wherein said credential message interacts with said device management API to respond to said RCD remotely performing IDev functions consisting of obtaining an IDev device status report, retrieving an IDev device configuration report with a list of installed and supported options, retrieving and setting configurable values on embedded IDev web pages, retrieving and setting values related to configurable IDev keys, retrieving IDev job queue and job history data and reprioritizing or deleting jobs in the queue, retreiving IDev click counts for IDev functions, retrieving IDev data security settings and performing a remote IDev reboot;

displaying said credential menu content on said IDev;

receiving a document comprising graphical indicia with credential data at an IDev primary document scanner;

scanning said document comprising graphical indicia at said IDev using said primary document scanner, wherein said scanning is performed according to image parameters set by said RCD via an image send API, wherein said image parameters consist of color, image mode, resolution, file format, original document characteristics, filename, image subject, image message, sender identification, scheduled send time, page division, cover page, file destination, paper thickness and document filing parameters;

extracting credentials from said graphical indicia at said IDev;

sending said credentials to said authentication application at said RCD; and

receiving an access authorization message from said RCD when said credentials are authenticated by said RCD.

2. An apparatus for imaging device credential extraction and processing, said apparatus comprising:

a credential message receiver for receiving a credential message comprising credential menu content, at an imaging device (IDev) device management application programming interface (API) from a remote computing device (RCD), wherein said RCD comprises an authentication application for authenticating user credentials wherein said credential menu content comprises a credential input prompt for display at said IDev for the purpose of prompting user credential input via graphical indicia, wherein said credential message interacts with said device management API to respond to said RCD remotely performing IDev functions consisting of obtaining an IDev device status report, retrieving an IDev device configuration report with a list of installed and supported options, retrieving and setting configurable values on embedded IDev web pages, retrieving and setting values related to configurable IDev keys, retrieving IDev job queue and job history data and reprioritizing or deleting jobs in the queue, retreiving IDev click counts for IDev functions, retrieving IDev data security settings and performing a remote IDev reboot;

a display for displaying said credential menu content on said IDev;

an IDev primary document scanner for scanning a document comprising graphical indicia with credential data, said primary document scanner configurable with scanner image parameters;

an IDev image send API for retrieving and setting said scanner image parameters under the direction of said RCD, wherein said scanner image parameters consist of color, image mode, resolution, file format, original document characteristics, filename, image subject, image message, sender identification, scheduled send time, page division, cover page, file destination, paper thickness and document filing parameters;

a credential extractor for extracting credentials from said graphical indicia in said document scanned by said primary document scanner at said IDev;

a sender for sending said credentials to said authentication application at said RCD; and

a receiver for receiving an access authorization message from said RCD.
