1. A monitoring and reporting system located on a vehicle, the system comprising:

  • a plurality of sensors mounted at different positions in the vehicle, each of said sensors determining a state of said sensor or a state of the mounting location of said sensor and generating a signal representative of the determination;

    a global positioning system for determining position information for the vehicle based on signals received from a plurality of satellites;

    a processor for receiving the signals from said sensors and diagnosing a state of the vehicle relating to a crash experienced by the vehicle based on the signals received from said sensors and instructions implemented by said processor evaluating the signals; and

    a transmitter for transmitting the position information determined by said positioning system and diagnosed state of the vehicle provided by said processor to a remote location to assist in emergency response to a crash experienced by the vehicle.
