1. A printer for printing packaging associated with a pharmaceutical product, the printer being configured for:
- determining visible information to be provided on the packaging;
determining an identity associated with the pharmaceutical product;
determining a digital signature for at least part of the identity;
generating coded data using the identity, the coded data including a number of coded data portions, each coded data portion being indicative of;
(i) the identity of the pharmaceutical product;
(ii) a fragment of the digital signature; and
(iii) a respective two-dimensional coordinate location; and
,printing the packaging by printing the coded data and the visible information, wherein;
the entire digital signature is encoded within a set of said coded data portions;
each of the coded data portions in the set encodes a respective fragment of the entire digital signature; and
each coordinate location in the set is indexed with a different signature fragment.

Abstract

The printer determines visible information to be provided on the packaging and an identity associated with the pharmaceutical product. The printer uses this to generate coded data including a number of coded data portions, each coded data portion being indicative of the identity. The printer then prints the packaging by printing the coded data and the visible information.
