1. An analyte monitoring system, comprising:

  • an analyte sensor;

    an antenna integrated with the analyte sensor;

    a radio frequency identification (RFID) sensor chip coupled with the analyte sensor and the antenna, the RFID sensor chip including a memory for storing digitally-encoded data representing a monitored analyte level detected by the analyte sensor; and

    an RFID reader coupled to a housing and configured to transmit an radio frequency (RF) signal and to receive data from the RFID sensor chip, the RFID reader further configured to provide an RF power signal;

    wherein the digitally encoded data representing the monitored analyte level is detected by the RFID reader based a backscattering radio wave from the RFID sensor chip when the RFID reader is positioned within a predetermined distance from the RFID sensor chip.
