1. A mobile communication system comprising:

  • a) a first terminal; and

    b) a second terminal, the second terminal being mobile and capable of communicating with the first terminal via radio signals propagated through a changing propagation channel, the second terminal comprising;

    i) a first polarization-agile antenna for transmission/reception of radio signals using any one of a plurality of polarization modes, andii) a polarization selector coupled to the first polarization-agile antenna to select one of the plurality of polarization orientations substantially matching a polarization orientation preferentially propagated through the changing propagation channel.
