1. A swallowable capsule for in vivo imaging comprising:
- an imaging camera;
an illumination source;
an optical system for collecting light remitted from a gastrointestinal tract site and for focusing images of the gastrointestinal tract site onto the imaging camera;
a transmitter;
an electronic switch internal to the transmitter to control operation of components of the capsule; and
a magnetic switch external to the transmitter, to control the electronic switch,wherein the magnetic switch has a normally opened logic, and wherein the electronic switch includes a circuit for converting the normally opened logic of the magnetic switch into a normally closed logic such that when the magnetic switch is opened the transmitter is activated.
