1. A method for recording communications in a Voice over Internet Protocol network, comprising:

  • receiving a recording invitation message from a call control server at a recorder controller server, the invitation message being relating to a communication between a first communications device and a second communications device, wherein the recording invitation was generated by a recording logic based on a Session Initialization Protocol (SIP) header associated with the communication and the SIP header associated with the communication is filtered to facilitate mixing a first portion of the communication and a second portion of the communication, and wherein the communication is received and routed by the call control server between the first communications device and the second communications device;

    determining at the recorder controller server whether a recorder is available;

    extracting a data packet from the SIP header associated with the communication;

    tagging the extracted data packet from the SIP header, the extracted data packet being associated with the communication; and

    recording the at least a portion of the communication at the recorder.
