a microphone configured to record an audio annotation; and
an application stored in the memory, said application configured to establish a data connection with a base computing device over a network, the application further configured to store the audio annotation with at least one of one or more electronic files stored on the base computing device by transmitting a signal to the base computing device via the data connection, the signal being indicative of a command to store the audio annotation in association with the at least one of the one or more electronic files stored on the base computing device, the application further configured to operate a slide show based on using the at least one of the one or more electronic files stored on the base computing device, with operation of the slide show controlled via the phone that is at a remote location that is not proximate to the base computing device, the slide show presented on a remote display device that is distinct from the phone and the base computing device,wherein the application is further configured to define a zoomed portion of an image of the at least one of the one or more electronic files and cause the zoomed portion of the at least one of the one or more electronic files to be transmitted to the remote display device without transmitting a non-zoomed portion of the image.

Abstract
The presently described subject matter allows the user to interactively browse a collection of electronic files, such as a digital photo collection, remotely using a mobile telephone. Files from the collection of electronic files can be directed from the mobile telephone to be sent to a remote display device, where the file can be displayed. Also, a user can record voice and text annotations from the mobile phone to preserve with an electronic file, and which is transported along with the file when it is displayed on a remote display device.

8. A method, comprising:

establishing a communication session between a mobile device and a server performing the method, the mobile device at a remote location that is not proximate to the server; receiving a command from the mobile device to manipulate one of a plurality of digital image files stored on the server; manipulating the one of the plurality of digital image files, wherein the receiving the command to manipulate the one of a plurality of digital image files further comprises receiving a command to edit an audio annotation associated with the one of the plurality of digital image files, and wherein manipulating the one of the plurality of digital image files includes editing the audio annotation associated with the one of the plurality of digital image files using an audio recording recorded by the mobile device; and depicting a slide show on a remote display based on using the plurality of digital image files, the slide show controlled via the mobile device and presented on the remote display, wherein the remote display is distinct from the mobile device and the server, wherein a portion of an image of the one of the plurality of digital image files is zoomed by the server and the zoomed portion of the image of the one of the plurality of digital image files is transmitted to the remote display without transmitting a non-zoomed portion of the image. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10)

establishing a communication session between a mobile device and the server performing the method, the mobile device at a remote location that is not proximate to the server; receiving a command from the mobile device to manipulate one of a plurality of digital image files stored on the server; manipulating the one of the plurality of digital image files, wherein the receiving the command to manipulate the one of a plurality of digital image files further comprises receiving a command to edit an audio annotation associated with the one of the plurality of digital image files, and wherein manipulating the one of the plurality of digital image files includes editing the audio annotation associated with the one of the plurality of digital image files using an audio recording recorded by the mobile device; and depicting a slide show on a remote display based on using the plurality of digital image files, the slide show controlled via the mobile device and presented on the remote display, wherein the remote display is distinct from the mobile device and the server, wherein a portion of an image of the one of the plurality of digital image files is zoomed by the server and the zoomed portion of the image of the one of the plurality of digital image files is transmitted to the remote display without transmitting a non-zoomed portion of the image.
