Abstract

When an information medium is copied, information is printed while preventing personal information from leaking. An image scanning section 2 scans the information medium and inputs the image. An identification section 64 calculates the size of the information medium from the inputted image and identifies the type of the information medium. The position of the unique image indicating personal information is fixed according to the information medium. An area determination section 63 identifies the unique image in the information medium and determines the position of the specific area in which the unique image exists in the inputted image. A control section 7 performs image processing for masking the specific area. An image forming section 3 prints the image in a state in which the unique image is hidden.

Claims

1. An image processing apparatus, comprising:

an input section for inputting an image having a unique image from an information medium;

a management table that stores information on each type of information medium;

a control section for performing image processing on the inputted image and outputting the image;

an identification section for obtaining a size of the information medium based on the inputted image of the information medium, and identifying the type of the information medium by comparing the size of the information medium with the information stored in the management table; and

an area determination section for determining a specific area in which the unique image exists based on the type of the information medium; and

an authentication section for authenticating a user,

wherein the area determination section determines the specific area to be masked according to a security level of the user, such that the higher the security level, the less of the specific area is to be masked, whereas the lower the security level, the more of the specific area is to be masked, and

the control section performs image processing for masking the specific area.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the specific area is determined according to the type of the information medium, the management table stores information medium management information on the size of the information medium for each type thereof, the shape of the unique image, and the position of the specific area, and when the type of the information medium is identified, the area determination section determines, by comparing the information in the management table, the position of the specific area in the inputted image of the information medium.

3. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a display section for displaying the specific area, wherein the specific area displayed in the display section is changeable and the control section masks the specific area after change.

4. The image processing apparatus according to 1, wherein the security level is changeable after the image is inputted.

5. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the security level of the unique image is assigned according to the type of the information medium and the area determination section determines the specific area according to the security level of the unique image.

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the security level of the unique image is assigned according to the type of the information medium and the area determination section determines the specific area based on the security level of the user and the security level of the unique image, whichever higher.

7. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein when image processing for masking the specific area is executed, the control section prohibits the creation of log information related to this processing.

8. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein when image processing of masking the specific area is executed, the control section prohibits the storing of the image having the inputted unique image.

9. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the information medium has an image indicating personal information as the unique image on the surface thereof;

and the input section scans the surface of the information medium and inputs the image.

10. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the information medium has an image on the front and back sides thereof;

and the input section scans both sides of the information medium and inputs the images; and

the control section synthesizes both sides of images and outputs two images side by side.
