1. An analyte testing device, comprising:

  • a housing that houses an analyte sensor and a lancet;

    a linkage mechanism at least partially disposed in the housing and having a first link coupled with the analyte sensor and a second link coupled with the lancet, wherein the first and the second links intersect one another at an angle on the linkage mechanism;

    an actuator coupled with the linkage mechanism; and

    wherein a single motion of the actuator in one direction moves (a) the first link and thereby exposes the analyte sensor at a first position of the housing, and (b) the second link and thereby advances the lancet for projection from a second position of the housing; and

    wherein the analyte sensor and the lancet are configured to move independently of each other.
