1. A method for providing a control signal of an electronic or electromechanical device including touch sensing surface, the method comprising:

  • obtaining tracking information of a set of a plurality of contacts, each of the contacts associated with a touch object on or near the touch sensing surface;

    determining a weighting for each of one or more of the contacts;

    determining a translational velocity for each of the contacts based on the tracking information;

    determining a velocity of the set based on the translational velocities and the one or more weightings; and

    providing the velocity of the set as a control signal of the electronic or electromechanical device.
