1. A method for producing a plurality of coherent symbols from a plurality of digital RF transmitters, each of the plurality of digital RF transmitters having a plurality of trellis coders, the method comprising the steps of:
- selecting, by a processor, in accordance with a predetermined mapping, a plurality of data bytes corresponding to at least one of a plurality of mobile-handheld (MH) encapsulation (MHE) packets of an MHE slot, wherein the MHE slot contains at least one of (i) data for MH receivers and (ii) normal data for stationary receivers, and wherein each of the plurality of data bytes correspond to a respective one the plurality of trellis coders;
providing each of the plurality of data bytes to the plurality of trellis coders, correspondingly; and
setting each one of the plurality of trellis coders to a predetermined state when a predetermined number of bits of the corresponding one of the plurality of data bytes enter the corresponding trellis coder, thereby causing the plurality of digital RF transmitters to transmit a plurality of symbols coherently.

a processor operable to; select, in accordance with a predetermined mapping, a plurality of data bytes corresponding to at least one of a plurality of mobile-handheld (MH) encapsulation (MHE) packets of an MHE slot, wherein the MHE slot contains at least one of (i) data for MH receivers and (ii) normal data for stationary receivers, and wherein each of the plurality of data bytes corresponds to a respective one a plurality of trellis coders, and provide each of the plurality of data bytes to the plurality of trellis coders, correspondingly;

13. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions, the sequences of instructions including instructions which, when executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform:
