1. A patient monitoring system, comprising:

  • (a) a low profile sensing apparatus, the low profile sensing apparatus including;

    (i) a sensor for sensing a condition adjacent to a human body;

    (ii) a signal processor coupled to the sensor for producing data based on the state of the condition adjacent to a human body sensed by the sensor;

    (iii) a transmitter coupled to the signal processor for wirelessly transmitting a signal containing the data based on the state of the condition adjacent to a human body sensed by the sensor;

    (iv) a power supply for supplying power to the sensor and the signal processor; and

    (v) a low profile flexible printed circuit substrate, at least the signal processor, the transmitter, and the power supply mounted on the low profile flexible printed circuit substrate;

    (b) a bedside monitor configured to;

    (i) wirelessly receive the signal wirelessly transmitted by the transmitter of the low profile sensing apparatus containing the data based on the state of the condition adjacent to a human body sensed by the sensor; and

    (ii) wirelessly transmit a signal containing the data based on the state of the condition adjacent to a human body sensed by the sensor; and

    (c) a patient monitoring apparatus, the patient monitoring apparatus including;

    (i) a receiver for receiving the signal wirelessly transmitted by the bedside monitor containing the data based on the state of the condition adjacent to a human body sensed by the sensor; and

    (ii) a computing device for determining if the data based on the state of the condition adjacent to a human body sensed by the sensor is in-range or out-of-range.
