1. A method of collecting optical coherence tomography data of an eye, said eye having at least one boundary surface associated therewith, said method comprising;

  • acquiring an initial set of image data of the eye using an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device, said OCT device including a light source and optical elements to scan the beam over the eye;

    identifying a curved boundary surface within the image data;

    generating a substantially smoothed reference surface from the boundary surface; and

    acquiring further image data by scanning the eye with the beam, wherein the scanning is guided by the contour of the smoothed reference surface.
