1. A menu navigation system, comprising:

  • a top and a bottom submenu displayed as contiguous regions on a display screen;

    a quad controller comprising a top and a bottom forward-selector region and a top and a bottom back-selector region, and wherein said top selector regions are both located overlaid over a portion of said top submenu, said bottom backward selector regions are both located overlaid over a portion of said bottom submenu, and all selector regions are displayed as contiguous regions on a display screen;

    said menu navigation system further comprising software coded such that the following actions occur dependent on which of said quad controller'"'"'s selector regions are active and selected;

    selection of an active top back-selector region causes a parent submenu to be displayed over said bottom submenu while selection of an active bottom back-selector region causes said parent submenu to be displayed over said top submenu; and

    selection of an active top forward-selector region causes a child submenu to be displayed over said bottom submenu while selection of an active bottom forward-selector region causes said child submenu to be displayed over said top submenu.
