1. A device for sensing the activity of neural tissue comprising:

  • a catheter;

    an electrode that is smaller than 5 micrometer in diameter, the electrode being smaller than a blood vessel and the electrode being deployed from the catheter into a blood vessel proximate to the neural tissue, thereby being able to measure a signal within the blood vessel, said signal being indicative of the electrical brain activity of the neural tissue;

    a wire connected to the electrode and for monitoring the signal on the electrode; and

    a computer connected to said wire and for determining neural information based on said signal.
