1. A system configured to measure at least one analyte in a host, the system comprising:
- a fluid coupler having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is configured to releasably mate with a connecting end of a catheter that is configured for insertion into a host, and wherein the second end is configured to releasably mate with a tubing assembly;
at least one analyte sensor, wherein at least a portion of the at least one analyte sensor is located in the fluid coupler, wherein the at least one analyte sensor is configured to be exposed to a biological sample, whereby a signal waveform is formed;
a processor operatively connected to the at least one analyte sensor and configured to process sensor data from the at least one analyte sensor, wherein the processor is configured to detect a fluidics malfunction based on a comparison of the signal waveform with an expected waveform.
