- wearing a wireless device with one or more accelerometers on the patient to detect patient motion, said wireless device including a button for the patient to manually transmit a request assistance to a telephone;
extracting a first set of body signature sequences representing one or more motion types;
matching a second set of body signature sequences to identify a fall motion;
andautomatically requesting assistance for the patient if needed using the telephone.

21. A method to provide personal emergency response for a patient, comprising:
-
wearing a wireless device with a first sensor including at least one or more accelerometers on the patient to detect patient motion and a second sensor not on the patient; determining a fall based on detected motions including one or more changes in height or one or more accelerations associated with movements by the patient detected using the first and second sensors; waiting for a predetermined period to detect if the patient can recover from the fall and automatically requesting assistance if the patient is unable to recover from the fall; and requesting assistance for the patient if the patient pushes a button requesting assistance. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25)
