    transmitting a communication initiation data frame;

    activating a receiver of the master controller for a first receiving period of time to receive signals from the slave device;

    in the event no response has been received by the master controller during the first receiving period of time from the slave device then;

    setting a second preamble period different from the first preamble period,retransmitting the communication initiation data frame, andactivating the receiver of the master controller for the first receiving period of time to receive signals from the slave device;

    in the event a response has been received by the master controller during the first receiving period of time thenpreparing further data frames to include the slave device address portion and command portion,setting a preamble period to a third preamble period different from the first and second preamble periods,transmitting the further data frames, andactivating the receiver of the master controller for the first receiving period of time to receive signals from the slave device until a response is received by the master controller.
