1. A touch screen including display pixels with capacitive elements, the touch screen comprising:

  • a plurality of groups of display pixels each group having display pixels disposed along a first and second direction;

    for each group of display pixels;

    a plurality of first electrically conductive lines connecting capacitive elements of adjacent display pixels along the first direction; and

    at least one second electrically conductive line electrically coupling together capacitive elements of display pixels along the second direction;

    wherein at least one of the plurality of first electrically conductive lines includes a first break along the first direction and the at least one second electrically conductive line includes a second break along the second direction, the first and second breaks separating capacitive elements of the display pixels to form the plurality of groups of display pixels, wherein all of the capacitive elements of display pixels in each group are electrically connected together by the plurality of first electrically conductive lines and the at least one second electrically conductive line; and

    wherein the touch screen further comprises;

    a plurality of first regions formed by first groups of the plurality of groups of display pixels, anda plurality of second regions formed by display pixels disposed along the first and second direction, the plurality of second regions disposed adjacent the plurality of first regions;

    wherein;

    capacitive elements within the display pixels of the first and second regions are configured to provide a display function in a display mode of operating of the touch screen and to provide capacitive coupling between the first and second regions in a touch sensing mode of operation of the touch screen; and

    touch sensing circuitry is configured to transmit stimulation signals through the capacitive elements of one of the plurality of first or second regions and to receive sense signals from the other of the plurality of first or second regions.
