1. A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:

  • (a) an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet and including an air treatment member and a suction motor;

    (b) a main body comprising a front end, a rear end and laterally positioned sides;

    (c) a filter chamber provided in the main body and comprising, a filter chamber air inlet, a filter chamber air outlet and an open portion, wherein the suction motor is external to the filter chamber;

    (d) first and second spaced apart wheels having an axis of rotation wherein the axis of rotation extends through the filter chamber, the first wheel being moveable between an operable position in which it rollingly supports a portion of the surface cleaning apparatus and an open position; and

    ,(e) an openable seal plate sealingly closing the open portion when the first wheel is in both the operable position and the open position, the seal plate is positioned axially between the first wheel and the filter chamber, the first wheel overlying the seal plate when the first wheel is in the operable position and the seal plate is accessible when the first wheel is moved away from the filter chamber to the open position.
