1. A technique for throttling location requests relating to a wireless device, comprising:

  • logging, at a single location server, a plurality of location requests associated with a single wireless device within a period of time prior to issuing a single location request to a positioning engine;

    determining if said logged plurality of location requests include at least one request for a last known location of said single wireless device, said at least one request for said last known location being distinct from a request for a current location of said single wireless device; and

    in response to said determination that said logged plurality of location requests include said at least one request for a last known location, transmitting previously cached location information of said single wireless device.
