1. A tissue penetration sampling device, comprising:
- a controllable electronic driver;
a cartridge cover;
a sampling module cartridge with a distal end exposed in a module window that is an opening in the cartridge cover of the sampling module cartridge to provide that the distal end is loaded for use to be exposed to avoid contamination of the cartridge cover with a body fluid in response to a lancing process, the sampling module cartridge including at least two sensor contacts;
a sampling module belt positioned in the sampling module cartridge, the sampling module belt including a plurality of sampling modules having a module body portion with a lancet channel and a lancet slidably disposed within the lancet channel and a cover sheet disposed over the lancet and lancet channel capturing the lancet shaft in the lancet channel with the plurality of sampling modules interconnected in a linear array by a flexible belt member; and
a reader module positioned at a distal portion of the sampling module, the reader module including at least two contacts in alignment and in electrical contact with the sensor contacts of the sampling module configured to align and make electrical contact with the at least two sensor contacts, the at least two contacts having a configuration that allows the sampling module belt to make electrical contact with the sampling module.

Abstract
A sampling module includes a module body portion with a lancet channel, a lancet slidably disposed within the lancet channel. A cover sheet is disposed over the lancet and a lancet channel that captures the lancet shaft in the lancet channel, and a sample reservoir for collection of a sample obtained by lancing a patient with the lancet.
