1. A device comprising:
- a receiver adapted to receive signals from one or more transmitters; and
a transceiver adapted to communicate with a server through a wireless communication network,wherein;
said device is adapted to intermittently awaken for a wake up time from a hibernating state, at least partially based on a hibernation duty cycle, in synchronization with said server to exchange information with said server over said wireless communication network,said device is adapted to be responsive to indications of times received from said server by awakening from said hibernating state at said times,said information including location information which is based, at least in part, on said received signals,the indications of times comprise an indication of the hibernation duty cycle,the hibernation duty cycle, stored by said device, indicates a time interval at which said device awakens from said hibernating state and a predetermined time interval at which said device hibernates from said awakened state,the wake up time is determined based at least in part on a hash function of the hibernation duty cycle,in said hibernating state, said device does not communicate with said wireless communication network, andsaid hibernation duty cycle is at least partially based on a battery status of said device.
