1. A dermatologic treatment device comprising:

  • a light source having an output,a window at an output end of the device for emitting light from the light source,a bezel surrounding the window and having a thickness,a plurality of low impedance conductive contacts arranged around the periphery of the window at the output end of the device, each low impedance conductive contact having a physical structure extending through the thickness of the bezel and defining a conductive outer surface configured for physical contact with a person'"'"'s skin,a plurality of capacitors, each capacitor electrically connected to one of the contacts and arranged spaced apart from the output end of the device, anda controller responsive to a perceived change in the value of at least one of the capacitors resulting from the presence of skin at the associated contacts, such that the light source emits light only when the presence of skin is detected by the controller.
