Abstract

A system and method for targeting one or more receiving data processing systems with data by aiming a sending data processing system at the receiving data processing systems and performing a shoot action is disclosed. Aiming information is transmitted from the sending data processing system to the receiving data processing systems to facilitate determining whether or not one of the receiving data processing systems was targeted by the sending data processing system, for example, to subsequently pull data, push data, or interact. Aiming information may include location information, directional and posture information, distance information, target size, and/or other shooting data to further qualify the shoot action. Permissions and configurations can govern data pulled or pushed. Waveforms that are not controllably aimed by nature can be accurately aimed.

Claims

1. A method by a mobile data processing system for aiming and shooting aimed data at an at least one target data processing system, the method comprising:

detecting aiming of the mobile data processing system for a user physically pointing the mobile data processing system toward a targeted physical whereabouts of the at least one target data processing system using an aim indicator of the mobile data processing system;

recognizing a user shoot action at the mobile data processing system subsequent to the aiming of the mobile data processing system, wherein the user shoot action is invoked for shooting a wireless data record from the mobile data processing system directly at the at least one target data processing system;

determining, by the mobile data processing system, aim information for the aiming of the mobile data processing system upon recognizing the user shoot action, wherein the aim information includes directional information and is processed by the at least one target data processing system for determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts;

determining, by the mobile data processing system, the aimed data to be shot at the at least one target data processing system; and

shooting the wireless data record containing the aim information and the aimed data at the at least one target data processing system over a wireless transmission, wherein the aimed data is processed by the at least one target data processing system based on the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the aim information includes location information for determining a starting location of the shoot action or posture information for the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the wireless transmission comprises a sound wave transmission or a radio frequency transmission.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one target data processing system is another mobile data processing system.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the aim information includes a destination address or identifier of the at least one target data processing system.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the aimed data is data pushed from the mobile data processing system to the at least one target data processing system.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the data pushed is used to initiate modification of user application data at the at least one target data processing system.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein the data pushed is used to cause a user interface to be presented at the at least one target data processing system.

9. The method of claim 6 wherein the data pushed is information from a user of the mobile data processing system to a user of the at least one target data processing system.

10. The method of claim 6 wherein the data pushed is configuration information or is search criteria for finding information.

11. The method of claim 6 wherein the data pushed includes an RFID probe.

12. The method of claim 6 wherein the data pushed includes permissions governing user privileged actions.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein the aimed data is for subsequently pulling pulled data from the at least one target data processing system.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data is used to initiate modification of user application data at the mobile data processing system.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data is used to cause a user interface to be presented at the mobile data processing system.

16. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data is information from a user of the at least one target data processing system to a user of the mobile data processing system.

17. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data is configuration information or is search criteria for finding information.

18. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data includes a menu.

19. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data includes a map.

20. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data includes applicable coupons.

21. The method of claim 13 wherein the pulled data includes deals offered at a store.

22. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one target data processing system ignores processing the aimed data upon the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts.

23. The method of claim 1 wherein the aim information includes distance information for determining a distance of the shoot action or target size for the targeted physical whereabouts.

24. The method of claim 1 wherein the aim information includes a confirmation request for a response from the at least one target data processing system, and wherein the response is sent to the mobile data processing system for confirmation of being targeted upon the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts, where the mobile data processing system, after receiving the response, confirms to the at least one target data processing system the aimed data should be processed by the at least one target data processing system.

25. The method of claim 24 wherein the at least one target data processing system comprises a plurality of data processing systems, and wherein a maximum number of targets is compared at the mobile data processing system to the response from each of the plurality of data processing systems.

26. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one target data processing system comprises a plurality of mobile data processing systems.

27. A mobile data processing system comprising:

one or more processors;

memory coupled to the one or more processors and including instructions, which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising;

detecting aiming of the mobile data processing system for a user physically pointing the mobile data processing system toward a targeted physical whereabouts of at least one target data processing system using an aim indicator of the mobile data processing system;

recognizing a user shoot action at the mobile data processing system subsequent to the aiming of the mobile data processing system, wherein the user shoot action is invoked for shooting a wireless data record from the mobile data processing system directly at the at least one target data processing system;

determining, by the mobile data processing system, aim information for the aiming of the mobile data processing system upon recognizing the user shoot action, wherein the aim information includes directional information and is processed by the at least one target data processing system for determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts;

determining, by the mobile data processing system, aimed data to be shot at the at least one target data processing system; and

shooting the wireless data record containing the aim information and the aimed data at the at least one target data processing system over a wireless transmission, wherein the aimed data is processed by the at least one target data processing system based on the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts.

28. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the aim information includes distance information for determining a distance of the shoot action or target size for the targeted physical whereabouts.

29. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the aim information includes location information for determining a starting location of the shoot action or posture information for the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts.

30. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the wireless transmission comprises a sound wave transmission or a radio frequency transmission.

31. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the at least one target data processing system is another mobile data processing system.

32. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the aim information includes a destination address or identifier of the at least one target data processing system.

33. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the at least one target data processing system ignores processing the aimed data upon the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts.

34. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the aimed data is data pushed from the mobile data processing system to the at least one target data processing system.

35. The mobile data processing system of claim 34 wherein the data pushed is used to initiate modification of user application data at the at least one target data processing system.

36. The mobile data processing system of claim 34 wherein the data pushed is used to cause a user interface to be presented at the at least one target data processing system.

37. The mobile data processing system of claim 34 wherein the data pushed is information from a user of the mobile data processing system to a user of the at least one target data processing system.

38. The mobile data processing system of claim 34 wherein the data pushed is configuration information or is search criteria for finding information.

39. The mobile data processing system of claim 34 wherein the data pushed includes an RFID probe.

40. The mobile data processing system of claim 34 wherein the data pushed includes permissions governing user privileged actions.

41. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the aimed data is for subsequently pulling pulled data from the at least one target data processing system.

42. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data is used to initiate modification of user application data at the mobile data processing system.

43. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data is used to cause a user interface to be presented at the mobile data processing system.

44. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data is information from a user of the at least one target data processing system to a user of the mobile data processing system.

45. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data is configuration information or is search criteria for finding information.

46. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data includes a menu.

47. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data includes a map.

48. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data includes applicable coupons.

49. The mobile data processing system of claim 41 wherein the pulled data includes deals offered at a store.

The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the aim information includes a confirmation request for a response from the at least one target data processing system, and wherein the response is sent to the mobile data processing system for confirmation of being targeted upon the determining whether the at least one target data processing system is located at the targeted physical whereabouts, where the mobile data processing system, after receiving the response, confirms to the at least one target data processing system the aimed data should be processed by the at least one target data processing system.

The mobile data processing system of claim 50 wherein the at least one target data processing system comprises a plurality of data processing systems, and wherein a maximum number of targets is compared at the mobile data processing system to the response from each of the plurality of data processing systems.

52. The mobile data processing system of claim 27 wherein the at least one target data processing system comprises a plurality of mobile data processing systems.
