1. An adaptive training system comprising:

  • a computer, the computer having a storage device;

    a plurality of training segments stored on the storage device and accessible by the computer;

    a plurality of simulation segments stored on the storage device and accessible by the computer;

    one or more graphics displays, at least one of the graphics displays simulates a windshield of a target vehicle, the computer generates images on the graphics displays;

    one or more input/output devices, the input/output devices corresponding to control/indicator devices of the target vehicle, the input/output devices are in communication with a trainee;

    a first set of software instructions stored in the memory, the first set of software instructions operable to select a first simulation segment of the simulation segments as the current simulation segment;

    a second set of software instructions stored in the memory, the second set of software instructions operable to present the current simulation segment on one or more of the graphics displays and/or input/output devices, thereby simulating an operation of the target vehicle;

    a third set of software instructions stored in the memory, the third set of software instructions operable to collect data from the one or more input/output devices during the current simulation segment;

    a fourth set of software instructions stored in the memory, the fourth set of software instructions operable to analyze the data to determine a level of competency of the trainee pertaining to one or more aspects of the current simulation segment, and if the level of competency indicates that the trainee didn'"'"'t perform sufficiently, select one or more training segments from the plurality of training segments and present the training segments to the trainee;

    a fifth set of software instructions stored in the memory, the fifth set of software instructions operable to select one or more next simulation segments from the plurality of simulation as the current segment and repeat the second, third and fourth, and fifth set of software instructions segments; and

    wherein the first through fifth set of software instructions operate during a single session in which the trainee remains within the adaptive training system.
