1. A method for wirelessly exchanging glucose information between a first communication device associated with a continuous glucose sensor and a second communication device associated with a glucose information display device, the method comprising:

  • receiving user input, using a user interface of the second communication device, comprising an identifier associated with the first communication device; and

    generating and storing, using the second communication device, a second device ID based at least partially on the identifier;

    transmitting a first beacon using the first communication device, the first beacon comprising a first device ID;

    receiving the first beacon using the second communication device;

    determining, using the second communication device, if the first device ID transmitted by the first communication device matches the second device ID stored at the second communication device;

    executing an authentication protocol based on the second communication device determining that the first device ID matches the second device ID; and

    exchanging glucose information between the first communication device and the second communication device upon successful completion of the authentication protocol,wherein the authentication protocol includesgenerating, using the second communication device, a first authentication key using a hash function applied to a challenge value provided by the first communication device and the identifier associated with the first communication device,transmitting, using the second communication device, a message having the first authentication key,receiving, using the first communication device, the message,generating, using the first communication device, a second authentication key based on the first challenge value, anddetermining, using the first communication device, if the first authentication key matches the second authentication key.
