1. An apparatus for a self-powered wireless transmitter associated with a component that has a periodic motion, said apparatus comprising:

  • a magnet having a magnetic field, said magnet configured to attach to the moving component;

    an inductor responsive to said magnetic field when there is relative motion between said magnet and said inductor;

    a power supply circuit electrically connected to said inductor, said power supply circuit including a voltage multiplier connected to a storage circuit, said storage circuit connected to a voltage regulating circuit, said voltage multiplier including a capacitor-diode network wherein a plurality of capacitors store energy from said capacitor-diode network, said storage circuit connected across an output of said voltage multiplier, said voltage regulating circuit being a passive circuit connected in parallel with said storage circuit;

    a processor electrically connected to said power supply, said processor having at least one input that is responsive to a corresponding external condition, said processor having an output based on said at least one input; and

    a transmitter electrically connected to said power supply, said transmitter connected to said output from said processor, said transmitter connected to an antenna, and said transmitter sending a wireless signal corresponding to said output of said processor.
