1. A method for selecting data for transmission from a mobile device, the method comprising:

  • collecting, by the mobile device, proximity data indicating proximity between one or more proximity sensors and a triggering entity;

    determining, by the mobile device, a type of near-field communication (NFC) transaction; and

    determining, by the mobile device, using the proximity data and the type of the NFC transaction, data to transmit to a remote NFC device, wherein such determining comprises;

    determining a gesture using the proximity data, wherein;

    the gesture is performed by a hand of a user;

    the gesture comprises sliding the mobile device through a grip of the hand of the user; and

    the triggering entity is the hand of the user; and

    determining, by the mobile device, using the gesture and the type of the NFC transaction, data to transmit to the remote NFC device.
