1. An object location system, comprising:

  • a master including a first input from at least a first motion sensor related to the master'"'"'s movement; and

    a tag configured to interface with the master to measure a first distance to the tag and including a second input from at least a second motion sensor related to the tag'"'"'s movement from which the tag can determine a second distance the tag has traveled, the tag being configured to receive information from the master based on the first input and transmit information to the master based on the second input,wherein the information received from the master includes instructions for movement of the tag, and wherein the tag further includes an input from one or more of a compass, a pedometer, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and altimeter or a GPS receiver for providing a direction as specified by the instructions, andwherein the first distance is determined by the master using a ranging signal after the tag has moved without any additional position reference infrastructure, and wherein a location of the tag after the tag has moved is determined by at least one of the master or the tag based at least on the first distance and the second distance without any additional position reference infrastructure.
