Methods and systems for automatic configuration of peripherals
First Claim
1. A data processing system comprising:
- at least one processor;
a user interface system coupled to the processor;
a memory coupled to the processor; and
a connector interface configured to be coupled to a wireless mobile telephone which communicates through a wireless cellular network, the connector interface being coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to;
determine that the wireless mobile telephone has been connected to the connector interface while the wireless mobile telephone is receiving a communication through the wireless cellular network; and
in response to the connection;
receive data of the cellular communication directly from the mobile wireless telephone via the connector interface; and
output the data of the cellular communication through the user interface system while maintaining the cellular communication between the wireless mobile telephone and the wireless cellular network;
wherein the connector interface is also configured to be coupled to a wireless headset which includes a speaker and a microphone, and wherein the wireless mobile telephone routes the data of the cellular communication to the wireless headset in response to the wireless headset being disconnected from the connector interface during the cellular communication.

Abstract
Peripherals and data processing systems are disclosed which can be configured to interact based upon sensor data. In one embodiment, a peripheral, which is configured to be used with a data processing system, includes an interface to couple the peripheral to the data processing system, and at least one sensor, such as a proximity sensor, to sense a user of the peripheral, and a processor coupled to the interface and to the at least one sensor, wherein the processor configures the peripheral in response to data from the at least one sensor. The peripheral may communicate sensor data from its sensors to the data processing system, which may be a wireless PDA, and the data processing system analyzes the sensor data from its sensors and from the peripheral'"'"'s sensors to decide how to configure the peripheral and/or the data processing system based on the sensor.
