1. A hyperbaric wound treatment apparatus comprising:

  • a chamber having an interior and an open end in communication therewith;

    an inflatable limb sleeve including an outer wall and an inner wall forming an interior therebetween, the sleeve being configured for receiving a limb and coupled to the chamber adjacent the open end;

    a gas conveyance assembly coupled to the sleeve and the interior of the chamber, the gas conveyance assembly operable for supplying a treatment gas to the interior of the chamber from a treatment gas supply and for creating a negative pressure at least in the chamber, the gas conveyance assembly further comprising a valve assembly through which the treatment gas is conveyable into and out of the interior of the chamber and through which an inflatable sleeve gas is conveyable into and out of the interior of the sleeve; and

    a control device coupled to the gas conveyance assembly operable for controlling the gas conveyance assembly for;

    inflating the sleeve to an inflated condition by supplying a the inflatable sleeve gas thereto for at least partially sealing against the limb adjacent the open end of the chamber,creating a negative pressure within the interior of the chamber by evacuating an existing gas from the interior of the chamber,ceasing the evacuation of the existing gas from the interior of the chamber while maintaining the negative pressure within the interior of the chamber, and thensupplying the treatment gas from the treatment gas supply to the interior of the chamber for treatment of the limb after evacuation of the existing gas has ceased, such that the pressure in the interior of the chamber increases from the negative pressure to a pressure of between 760 mm Hg and 860 mm Hg.
