1. An apparatus for treatment of ocular tissue comprising:

  • a laser operative at a wavelength selected from the ranges of 1.4 μ

    m to 1.54μ

    m or 1.8 μ

    m to 6.0 μ

    m for irradiating an ocular surface and inducing symmetrically uniform lesions in a subsurface region below the ocular surface to modify the shape of the ocular surface;

    an ocular surface cooling mechanism configured for controlling temperature of the ocular surface irradiated by the laser; and

    an ultraviolet radiation source configured to irradiate the ocular surface and the subsurface region to induce crosslinking of ocular tissue below the ocular surface in or near the lesions.
