Abstract

Search terms are derived automatically from images captured by a camera equipped cell phone, PDA, or other image capturing device, submitted to a search engine to obtain information of interest, and at least a portion of the resulting information is transmitted back locally to, or nearby, the device that captured the image.

Claims

1. A mobile image capturing device comprising:

at least one sensor configured to capture a digital representation of a scene, the digital representation including an image and a sound; and

an identification platform coupled with the at least one sensor and configured to;

receive the digital representation from the at least one sensor;

recognize the scene as including an object associated with a target object based at least in part on the digital representation;

retrieve target object information, including an information address and related to the target object, from an available storage via a query derived from the digital representation; and

cause a device to take an action related to the image and sound via the address and based on the target object information.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the digital representation comprises multiple images which include the image and the sound.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the action is further related to a frequency.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein the object is the target object.

5. The device of claim 4, wherein the object comprises a tag.

6. The device of claim 4, wherein the object lacks a tag.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the digital representation further includes a position and wherein the identification platform is further configured to retrieve the target object information based in part on the position.

8. The device of claim 1, wherein the digital representation further includes a time when the digital representation was captured and wherein the identification platform is further configured to retrieve the target object information based in part on the time.

9. A method of capturing an image comprising:

capturing, by at least one sensor of a mobile device, a digital representation of a scene, the digital representation including an image and a sound;

receiving, by an identification platform, the digital representation from the at least one sensor;

recognizing, by an identification platform, the scene as including an object associated with a target object based at least in part on the digital representation;

retrieving target object information, including an information address and related to the target object, from an available storage via a query derived from the digital representation; and

causing a device to take an action related to the image and sound via the address and based on the target object information.

10. A non-transitory, computer readable medium storing software instructions that configure a processor to execute the steps of:

capturing, by at least one sensor of a mobile device, a digital representation of a scene, the digital representation including an image and a sound;

receiving, by an identification platform, the digital representation from the at least one sensor;

recognizing, by an identification platform, the scene as including an object associated with a target object based at least in part on the digital representation;

retrieving target object information, including an information address and related to the target object from an available storage via a query derived from the digital representation; and

causing a device to take an action related to the image and sound via the address and based on the target object information.

11. A mobile image capturing device comprising:

at least one sensor configured to capture a digital representation of a scene, the digital representation including an image and a sound, and associated with time information; and

an identification platform coupled with the at least one sensor and configured to;

receive the digital representation and the time information from the at least one sensor;

recognize the scene as including an object associated with a target object based at least in part on the digital representation;

retrieve target object information, including an information address and related to the target object, from an available storage via a query derived from the digital representation and the time information; and

cause a device to take an action related to the image and sound via the address and based on the target object information.

12. The device of claim 11, wherein the time comprises a time when the digital representation was captured.

13. A mobile image capturing device comprising:

at least one sensor configured to capture a digital representation of a scene, the digital representation including an image and a sound, and associated with location information; and

an identification platform coupled with the at least one sensor and configured to;

receive the digital representation and the location information from the at least one sensor;

recognize the scene as including an object associated with a target object based at least in part on the digital representation;

retrieve target object information, including an address information and related to the target object, from an available storage via a query derived from the digital representation and the location information; and

cause a device to take an action related to the image and sound via the address and based on the target object information.

14. The device of claim 13, wherein the location comprises a device location.

15. The device of claim 13, wherein the location comprises a user location.

16. The device of claim 13, wherein the location comprises a physical location.

17. The device of claim 16, wherein the physical location relates to at least one of the following:

a building, a car, a theater, a store, a lake, a forest, and a stadium.
