1. A glucose sensor system for monitoring glucose concentration in a biological sample of a host, the system comprising:

  • a continuous glucose sensor configured to produce a data stream indicative of a host'"'"'s glucose concentration;

    a first device coupled to the continuous glucose sensor, the first device comprising sensor electronics housed within the first device, the sensor electronics comprising a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit and receive data and a first processor configured to prospectively convert uncalibrated sensor data associated with the data stream using a prospectively-generated conversion function to generate real-time calibrated glucose concentration information; and

    a second device configured to wirelessly receive the uncalibrated sensor data associated with the data stream from the first device, the second device having second device electronics comprising a display, a second processor and software stored in computer memory,wherein the software comprises instructions, when executed by the second processor, to retrospectively convert the uncalibrated sensor data associated with the data stream to generate historical calibrated glucose concentration information using a retrospectively-generated conversion function and to cause display of the historical calibrated glucose concentration information on the display, andwherein the prospectively-generated conversion function is different from the retrospectively-generated conversion function.
