1. A computer-implemented method of outputting information concerning an electrode inserted inside a patient'"'"'s neural tissue, the method comprising:

  • determining, by a computer processor, a distribution of electrical values, to be generated by the inserted electrode, in the patient'"'"'s neural tissue in a region surrounding the inserted electrode;

    determining at least one threshold electrical value for neural tissue activation;

    determining, by the processor and by applying the at least one threshold value to the electrical values, an estimated volume of neural tissue activated by the distribution of electrical values; and

    displaying, by the processor, a graphical representation of the determined estimated volume relative to an anatomical atlas that is specific to the patient and is generated by;

    registering imaging data representing an anatomy of the patient'"'"'s neural tissue to a canonical anatomical atlas by performing a transformation; and

    performing an inverse of the transformation on the canonical anatomical atlas.
