Inductive charging of a rechargeable battery
First Claim
1. An apparatus comprising:
- an inductive charging system configured to charge a rechargeable battery, where the inductive charging system comprises an induction coil; and
at least first and second wireless communication systems configured to communicate with respective devices, the first wireless communication system comprising at least a first portion of the induction coil for transmitting and/or receiving a wireless signal at the induction coil, the second wireless communication system comprising at least a second portion of the induction coil for generating a communication electromagnetic field at the induction coil, each of the first and second wireless communication systems shares at least a respective part of the induction coil as a common component with the inductive charging system, where the first wireless communication system comprises a near field communication (NFC) system configured to use the first portion of the induction coil as a near field communication antenna, andwhere the second wireless communication system comprises a hearing aid compatibility (HAC) system configured to generate an electromagnetic field from the induction coil.

Abstract
An apparatus including an inductive charging system and at least one wireless communication system. The inductive charging system is configured to charge a rechargeable battery. The inductive charging system has an induction coil. The at least one wireless communication system is configured to communicate with a device. The wireless communication system includes at least a portion of the induction coil for transmitting and/or receiving a wireless signal at the induction coil, or for generating a communication electromagnetic field at the induction coil. Thus, both the inductive charging system and the wireless communication system include at least a portion of the induction coil as a common component for both of the systems.
