1. Consumer electronics (CE) device comprising:

  • processor;

    touch screen display controlled by the processor; and

    computer readable storage medium bearing instructions executable by the processor to;

    present a main graphical user interface (GUI) on the touch screen display for video playback control, wherein touch input on the touch screen display is disabled and the main GUI includes first and second main GUI elements manipulable by means of respective wireless commands from a wireless remote control (RC) spaced from the CE device at least to cause respective first and second control commands to be implemented by the processor responsive to receiving the wireless commands, the control commands for controlling respective first and second video playback functions of the CE device,responsive to a wireless signal from the RC that is spaced from the CE device, present at least one toggle element on the touch screen display selectable at least using the RC to hide the main first and second GUI elements that are manipulable by the RC and to enable touch commands on the touch screen display of the CE device, wherein the touch commands include at least first and second touch gesture patterns on the touch screen display and wherein the first and second touch gesture patterns are respectively correlated to the first and second video playback control commands.
