1. A prosthetic heart valve configured to be delivered to a native annulus of an atrioventricular value of a heart via an opening through a wall of a ventricle of the heart, comprising:

  • a self-expanding wire frame body having a proximal end and a distal end and shaped as a truncated cone;

    a valve disposed in the body;

    a plurality of self-expanding atrial anchoring elements distributed circumferentially about, and extending radially outwardly from, the proximal end of the body;

    an anchoring suture having a first end and a second end, the first end being attached to the distal end of the body, the suture having a length sufficient to extend from the distal end of the body through the opening in the wall of the ventricle of the heart and out of the wall of the ventricle when the body is disposed in the native annulus of the atrioventricular valve of the heart.
