1. A lamp configured to be installable in a lamp socket, the lamp comprising:

  • a shell with heat conductivity, the shell including;

    a light source support provided at one end of the shell,a peripheral wall extending from the light source support to another end of the shell, the peripheral wall having a shape whose outer diameter reduces from the one end of the shell to the other end of the shell, the peripheral wall including a heat radiating surface exposed to an exterior of the lamp, anda receptacle provided inside the peripheral wall and having an open end on an opposite side of the light source support;

    a heat generating light source supported on the light source support;

    a lighting circuit configured to light the light source, the lighting circuit disposed in the receptacle and having a circuit board on which circuit components are mounted;

    a translucent cover provided on the shell so as to cover the light source;

    a base comprising;

    a metal base shell configured to be installable in and directly contact the lamp socket to supply a current from the lamp socket to the lighting circuit; and

    a connecting member having electrical insulation, the connecting member physically separating the metal base shell from the heat conductive shell and being fixed to the metal base shell,wherein the connecting member further comprises a distal end on which an engaging portion is formed, wherein the connecting member is configured to be connected to the heat conductive shell by fitting the distal end inside the open end of the receptacle and inserting, in a radial direction, the engaging portion into a groove defined on an interior surface of the heat conductive shell,wherein the connecting member separates the metal base shell and the heat conductive shell such that the heat conductive shell does not directly contact the lamp socket when the metal base shell is installed in the lamp socket,wherein the heat conductive shell is not configured to supply current from the lamp socket to the lighting circuit,wherein the receptacle extends into the connecting member, andwherein the peripheral wall is configured such that a thickness of the peripheral wall decreases from the one end of the shell to the other end of the shell.
