Abstract

A mobile communication device and a method for managing images, associated geographic location data, and associated supplemental information, in which geographic location data is generated based on a current location of the mobile communication device; a map corresponding to the generated geographic location data is displayed; a plurality of images and associated supplemental information corresponding to each image in a list mode are displayed in a first user interface, wherein the displayed associated supplemental information comprises description information and a street address; a selection of the plurality images, the associated description information, and the associated street address is received; the selected associated location information is displayed in a second user interface, wherein the second user interface comprises an editing mode; and the supplemental information is edited in the edit mode by receiving note information and the note information is associated with the selected associated description information.

Claims

1. A mobile communication device for managing images, associated geographic location data, and associated supplemental information in a mobile device and displaying the images and the associated supplemental information, the apparatus comprising:

a housing having a form factor suitable for handheld use;

a display device contained in the housing;

an input device contained in the housing, wherein the input device includes a touch-sensitive screen;

at least one wireless network connection component contained in the housing and configured to connect to a wireless network;

a location component contained in the housing and configured to generate geographic location data based on a current geographic location of the mobile device;

a camera component contained in the housing configured to generate an image;

a map display component in the housing configured to cause the display device to display a map; and

a processor contained in the housing and coupled among the display device, the input device, the at least one wireless network connection component, the location component, the camera component, and the map display component;

wherein the processor is configured to;

receive geographic location data based on the current geographic location of the mobile device from the location component;

display a map corresponding to the received geographic location data;

display a plurality of images and associated supplemental information corresponding to each image in a list mode in a first user interface, wherein the displayed associated supplemental information comprises description information and a street address;

receive a selection of the plurality images, the associated description information corresponding to each image, and the associated street address corresponding to each image; and

display the selected associated description information in a second user interface, wherein the second user interface comprises an editing mode for editing the supplemental information, which comprising receiving an input of note information and associating the note information with the selected associated description information.

2. The mobile communication device of claim 1, wherein the map display component is further configured to cause the display device to display a geographic indicator on a map at a geographical location associated with one of the plurality images.

3. The mobile communication device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to display a third user interface to receive an image and a geographic location data and store an association between the received image and the received geographic location data.

4. The mobile communication device of claim 3, wherein the processor is further configured to access a network storage component separate from the mobile communication device to store the association between the received image and the received geographic location data.

5. The mobile communication device of claim 3, wherein the image is received from the camera component or received from a storage device.

The mobile communication device of claim 1, further comprising a search component configured to cause the display device to display a list of images, the associated description information corresponding to each image, and the associated street address corresponding to each image matching an input search term.

7. The mobile communication device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to associate a new geographic location data with one of the plurality images in response to an edit command.

8. The mobile communication device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to associate the supplemental information with one of the plurality images in response to an edit command, wherein the supplemental information further comprises user opinion rating information.

9. The mobile communication device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to receive an image from a storage device of the mobile communication device and associate the received image from the storage device with a corresponding geographic location data and supplemental information.

10. The mobile communication device of claim 9, wherein the storage device is a remote storage.

11. A method for managing images, associated geographic location data, and associated supplemental information in a mobile communication device and displaying the images and the associated supplemental information, the method comprising:

generating, by a location component in the mobile communication device, geographic location data based on a current location of the mobile communication device;

displaying a map corresponding to the generated geographic location data;

displaying a plurality of images and associated supplemental information corresponding to each image in a list mode in a first user interface, wherein the displayed associated supplemental information comprises description information and a street address;

receiving a selection of the plurality images, the associated description information corresponding to each image, and the associated street address corresponding to each image;

displaying the selected associated location information in a second user interface, wherein the second user interface comprises an editing mode; and

editing the supplemental information in the edit mode by receiving note information and associating the note information with the selected associated description information.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising displaying a geographic indicator on a map at a geographical location associated with one of the plurality images.

13. The method claim 11, further comprising displaying a third user interface to receive an image and a geographic location data and storing an association between the received image and the received geographic location data.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising accessing a network storage component separate from the mobile communication device to store the association between the received image and the received geographic location data.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the image is received from a camera component of the mobile communication device or received from a storage device.

16. The method of claim 11, further comprising receiving an input of a search term and displaying a list of images, the associated description information corresponding to each image, and the associated street address corresponding to each image matching an input search term.

17. The method of claim 11, further comprising associating a new geographic location data with one of the plurality images in response to an edit command.

18. The method of claim 11, further comprising associating the supplemental information with one of the plurality images in response to an edit command, wherein the supplemental information further comprises user opinion rating information.

19. The method of claim 11, further comprises receiving an image from a storage device of the mobile communication device and associating the received image from the storage device with a corresponding geographic location data and supplemental information.

20. A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions for performing a method for managing images, associated geographic location data, and associated supplemental information in a mobile communication device and displaying the images and the associated supplemental information, the method comprising:

generating, by a location component in the mobile communication device, geographic location data based on a current location of the mobile communication device;

displaying a map corresponding to the generated geographic location data;

displaying a plurality of images and associated supplemental information corresponding to each image in a list mode in a first user interface, wherein the displayed associated supplemental information comprises description information and a street address;

receiving a selection of the plurality images, the associated description information corresponding to each image, and the associated street address corresponding to each image;

displaying the selected associated location information in a second user interface, wherein the second user interface comprises an editing mode; and

editing the supplemental information in the edit mode by receiving note information and associating the note information with the selected associated description information.
