1. A method of controlling a mower, equipped with a cutting arrangement for delivering cut crop to a crop conveying arrangement for delivering the cut crop rearward to a windrow forming arrangement, for preventing a bunching of crop in a formed windrow when reducing a ground speed of the mower within a pre-selected ground speed range, comprising the steps of:

  • a) pre-selecting a desired ground speed range for operation of the mower;

    b) controlling the mower to operate at a selected first ground speed within said desired ground speed range;

    c) sensing mower ground speed;

    d) controlling the crop conveying arrangement to operate at a throughput speed which is a pre-selected adjustable ratio of the sensed mower ground speed, with the pre-selected adjustable ratio only being adjusted in response to a reduction in the selected first ground speed;

    e) sensing the throughput speed at which the crop conveying arrangement is moving crop toward the windrow forming arrangement; and

    f) controlling the mower to operate at a selected reduced second ground speed within the desired ground speed range, and reducing the throughput speed at which the crop conveying arrangement is driven for maintaining said pre-selected adjustable ratio of the throughput speed to the selected reduced second ground speed, with this adjustment being an increase in the adjustable ratio.
