1. A method of making a composition for reducing symptoms associated with sepsis that are induced by at least one strain of E. coli and Klebsiella spp., the method comprising:

  • providing gut flora comprising at least one strain of E. coli and Klebsiella spp., wherein the gut flora is from a mammal that has been diagnosed as having sepsis induced by the at least one strain of E.coli and Klebsiella spp.;

    processing said gut flora to collect extracellular vesicles that originated from the at least one strain; and

    formulating a composition comprising the collected extracellular vesicles at a sublethal dose for administration to a mammal.
